MEET OUR VETS
Juliet has been a qualified vet for over 20 years and has helped animals across Australia and the UK. She has been in Bayside since 2010 and is wholly committed to her clinic and her furry patients— she even has a tradition of kissing them all on the head when they arrive!
Juliet graduated from Murdoch University in Perth and has seen hundreds of thousands of animals throughout her career, which began in dairy practice. She is an experienced soft tissue surgeon and gifted diagnostician, who is passionate about giving your pet the best possible quality of life.
When she is not in clinic, Juliet is usually found somewhere in Bayside with her two young boys and kicking the football for her 3 legged greyhound, Gypsy. After losing Ernie in the picture to cancer the family is now the doting owner of a Burmese called Luna.
Nadia graduated from The Royal Veterinary College in London and went on to work in England in small animal practice with cats, dogs, rabbits, and the occasional bird, reptile and other exotics.
Nadia moved to Victoria in 2010 with her Australian partner and has been part of the Black Rock Vet family since 2012. She is a talented and compassionate veterinarian with a real love for her work and her patients.
In her spare time, Nadia enjoys attending music festivals, baking, and reading. Nadia also enjoys exploring Australia and ticking off new destinations on her lengthy must-visit list.
Nadia has taken Sampson the clinic cat to live with her to give him love and a comfortable home.
Jo grew up in Singapore and studied Veterinary Science at the University of Melbourne. She graduated in 2009 and has worked as a small animal vet since then. Sometimes known as the “doggy physio,” she has a special interest in canine rehabilitation post-surgery.
During her free time, she enjoys Melbourne coffee, CrossFit.
Anna graduated from the University of Melbourne in 1991 and has worked as a small animal veterinarian in both Melbourne and London since then. Anna is a local Bayside resident and has worked in the area since 2007. Anna is passionate about enhancing the quality of life of all animals and supporting the human-pet bond. She has particular interests in pain management and behaviour, both in preventing problems and recognising and treating them.
Anna loves working in her own local community and having connections with many of her clients. Her three children go to school locally and are involved in many local sporting clubs. When not at work or kids’ sport, Anna is enjoying her own pets, Mac the big beautiful black Labrador, and Clem and Oli, sibling Burmese cats.
Damian will be known to many of the Black Rock clients as he worked at, then owned, the Black Rock Animal Hospital from 1995 to 2012, when Juliet took over the practice. He was part-owner of a large and successful practice in East Bentleigh. He always felt that Juliet provided a fantastic level of care to her clients and patients at Black Rock, so as he is working less hours now he has opted to do this at Black Rock.
He has experience with a wide range of medical and surgical conditions and procedures, so while not needed on the surgery front at BRAH he can give you great advice navigating you through difficult and complex conditions and solutions. He is staying fit and healthy as he approaches his sixties, still playing hockey, Crossfit, and seeing wide-ranging theatre and music now that the kids are grown and left the nest. He will not always be available (due to enjoying his semi-retirement and travel), but we hope he will stay in this role for years to come.
Lisa is a graduate of Sydney university in 1992 and has worked in the U.K., Sydney and Melbourne over the past 30 years. She continues to keep up to date with the latest in veterinary medicine and surgery through Continued Veterinary Education.
Lisa travels to India regularly with her family to participate in veterinary volunteer work helping street dogs - primarily desexing and anti rabies vaccine projects and training Indian vets in surgery.
After 30 years as a Vet she still enjoys meeting new puppies and kittens and helping get them off to a great start with their new families.
Lisa has 2 children and an elderly (but still feisty) cat Jade (who was adopted as a kitten from the Black Rock Hospital) and has had the enormous privilege of being a Guide Dog Puppy raiser.
She enjoys swimming in the bay, hiking and learning Spanish.
