VETSDr Damian McShaneDamian has worked in our practices for over 13 years, and been in ownership since 1997. He lives locally in Carnegie, and is active in the local community. The clinic was even the Gold Sponsor of the recent Totally Wild Carnival at Hughesdale Primary School, which raised nearly $30,000 for computers for the school. He also has a great interest in the wellness of your pets, preventing illness and injury rather than just trying to fix problems after they have developed. Many of our clients can attest to being able to fine-tune the solutions to their pets’ problems not just by good clinical skills, but listening, and finding out the subtleties of just how you want your individual case to be managed. He still tries to remain fit and active, playing in his 23rd season for the Melbourne University Hockey Club, and trying to keep up with 8 year old Aidan, and 3 year old Felix. He is the not-so-proud owner of a grumpy overweight cat named Benny (in tribute to a grumpy ex-ruck for Richmond Footy Club called Benny Gale), and a poorly behaved but lovely Cavalier King Charles Spaniel named Yugi (reference to Manga comic character – your penance for having an 8 year old boy!) Dr Diana WilsonDiana grew up in Oakleigh, and graduated from the University of Melbourne in 2000. She has worked in very busy practices but has come to our practice in a more senior capacity. She is currently undertaking further study in surgery to further stretch the boundaries of what our clinics are able to offer. Diana and her husband are currently in the middle of that dreaded renovation, but seem to be coping very well so far! She has many strong interests outside the veterinary world especially in hockey and personal fitness training. She enjoys very much getting to the bottom of all those challenging illnesses, and helping you deal with them as well. Dr Michael HeathMichael joined Damian in the practices over 8 years ago, and became a full partner with Damian in 2000. Michael worked in Bendigo after graduating from Sydney University, then had a couple of years travelling the world from a base in the UK, while working as a locum. Since this time he has maintained a great interest in all things Eurasian and historic. Michael and Lisa, and their two young boys, live locally in Beaumaris, and enjoy very much bumping into patients, and their owners, outside their sons’ school, and around the local streets. Michael is especially interested in the overall wellness of our patients, but is especially interested in removing masses that we used to think were not able to be removed. There are many pets still taking their morning constitutionals on the beach at Black Rock who would not be there were it not for Michael, and his skills with the scalpel! Providing fun for the family is a 10 year old ginger cat named Johnny, and a couple of funny bunnies called Bunny and Scrambles. Dr Lisa SanderLisa is also a part-owner of the practices. She has taken some time off when having children. They are Finn (7) and Archie (2). She is now back consulting part-time at the Black Rock Animal Hospital, for 20 to 30 hours per week. She has developed great relationships with many of our long term clients and patients, and enjoys getting to understand how owners wish for their pets’ health to be managed. Lisa also had a great deal of veterinary experience working in Australia, then the UK as a locum, then in a busy practice in Prahran, before moving down to Black Rock and East Bentleigh. She is enjoying very much the move down to Beaumaris a couple of years ago. |
